As I have gotten older, the focus has increasingly been trying to keep healthy.
I do not care for longevity.
I am equally fine to leave this earth at 90 or tomorrow. The focus is to ensure that I do not become a liability in case that I live to 90.
After thinking through the problem for a while, I simplify it down to 2 word, SEE and be SAFE.
There are 3 things (SEE) that has been proven to assist with a healthy living is
Sleep adequately
Eat in moderation
Exercise by constantly moving
Sleeping adequately and eating moderately is self explanatory. The question I have been toggling with is how do I determine if I had exercise well?
So I have done my research and come up with my goals.
In my old age, I aim to achieve SAFE
Strength
Agility
Flexibility
Endurance
That means that I am doing a few things.
I have started weights around 3 years ago to build strength (kettlebell is my preferred instrument) and have been playing racquet games to maintain my agility (which include balance in the mix).1
Yoga has been my wake up exercise every morning for the past 8 years to maintain flexibility. And finally after many years of lack of aerobic exercise, I have gone back to some endurance exercises like running and cycling.
Hopefully my fitness regime continues till my 90s or if it ends early at least I know I have tried not being a liability to myself, my family or the society.
I have chosen agility as it incorporate balance within.
